This trek is more like cultural trek than mountain and glacier expeditions. People here call themselves Sherpas but their relationship with the Sherpa of Solu Khumbu is distant. The dialects spoken are also different. People here follow the Buddhist religion so you will find many old Buddhist monasteries in the villages. Tarkegyang is another Sherpa town along the way, which bears its own story. Our trek starts from Kathmandu after driving by bus/car to Sundarijal, which is just 13km from Kathmandu. We then continue ascend to Chisopani where we spend first night just outside valley. Chisopani offer great view of mountain and landscape. Then we make almost a circle going through Khtumsang, Tharapati, Tarkeghyang, Sermathang and finally to Melamchi Pul where we take bus to Kathmandu.

The walk leads to a climb through wet, subtropical forest to an oak forest and on to Mulkharka, a scattered Tamang village. The trail again ascends through oak forest to a pass called Burlung Bhanjyang. After reaching the ridge, the walk continues on the trail, descending to Chisopani for the overnight stop. The trail continues to drop from Chisapani on a good, sometimes level trail that crosses meadows & fields. Patibhanjyang is on a saddle at the bottom of the ridge at 1770m. This is a Brahming & Chhetri village with a few shops & hotels. The trail heads north out of the Patibhanjyang along the forested ridge & then descends to a large chorten, the Tamang village of Gul Bhanjyang . This is a delightful, classic hill village. Again, the trail climbs the ridge from Gul Bhanjyang to another pass at 2620m. From the pass one can look back over Gul Bhanjyang at the bottom. The trail then descends to Kutumasang at 2470m for the overnight stay.

    Day 05: Kutumasang trek to Tharepati (3510 m), 5hrs
The trail climbs above Kutumasang on a steep, eroded trail, mostly through fir & rhododendron forests where there are no permanent settlements. It then descends to Mangengoth (3150m) and finally reaches Tharepati for overnight stay.
